Affiliate disclosure
How HostArbiter makes money, and the firewall between commissions and rankings. Last updated September 10, 2026.
HostArbiter is reader-supported. Some of the outbound links on this site are affiliate links: if you click one and buy a hosting plan, the host pays us a commission at no extra cost to you — you pay exactly what you would have paid otherwise. This is standard for independent review sites, and it's how we fund the research. This disclosure explains how it works and, more importantly, what it does not affect. Last updated September 10, 2026.
How our links work
Outbound affiliate links on this site point to a /go/ address that redirects to the host, and every one carries a rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute so search engines and readers know it's a commercial link. Where a link is an affiliate link, we also disclose it in plain language nearby. Programs we may participate in include host affiliate programs run through networks such as Impact and CJ, and in-house programs from hosts like Hostinger, SiteGround, DreamHost and GreenGeeks. We only ever link to a host's own official site — never a third-party reseller.
What commissions never change
Our rankings and scores. The order of hosts on the best web hosting page is set entirely by our five scoring criteria — value, renewal honesty, uptime, support and ease — not by which host pays the most or has the highest commission. The proof is on the page: our single strongest recommendation for technical users is Hetzner, which runs no affiliate program and pays us nothing, and we name it as the best answer anyway. No host can buy a higher rank, a better score, a removed criticism or a guaranteed mention, and we don't publish sponsored reviews.
Prices, dates and honesty
Every price we publish is the advertised or published rate on the date we read it, shown with both the intro and the renewal figure. We never claim to have load-tested or measured uptime we didn't test, and we frame provider claims as "advertised" or "published" rather than as our own findings. This disclosure is made in the spirit of the US FTC's endorsement guidelines and similar rules elsewhere: you deserve to know when a link can earn us money, and now you do.
